Yohji Yamamoto: Menswear Spring 2012

and this is the full version of the fashion show (sort of..)

Yohji Yamamoto always mesmerized me with his collections. And for his Menswear Spring 2012 collection, he mesmerized me not only with his designs (like always) but also with the guys on the runway. He was not only using the real male models but also some regular guys in his fashion show. I know he's not the only one who ever used regular guys to walk on the runway but (for me!) still his is the best. Especially that little japanese old man, seriously he stole my heart! Is he probably Yohji's relative? And you know what I like more about this fashion show? He used Dangdut as the counterpoint song during the fashion show. Should I be proud? :S

Quoted: Yohji Yamamoto

“For some reason, I am moved by the female form, as seen from the side, or diagonally from behind. Like a feeling of waiting to chase after and restrain something that passes by, or passes through. You could call it a feeling of “missing” something. A lingering scent is the same. A kind of feeling of longing for something. There is always an adoration for women in me which resembles the temptation I have for things that have passed me by. And so I can only see a woman as someone who passes by, a person who disappears. Therefore the “Back” is important to me. I think clothes should be made from the back, and not the front. The back supports the clothes, and so if it is not properly made, the front cannot exist.”

Yohji Yamamoto: How It Began

“I had bought a shirt and a jacket. You know the sensation you feel when you put on a new garment: you look in the mirror, happy and a bit excited in your new skin. But wearing that shirt and jacket I was different; they were old and new at the same time. In the mirror I was myself, undoubtedly, only I was more myself than before. I had a strange sensation…yes, I was wearing the shirt par excellence and the perfect jacket, and beneath them I was myself. I felt protected, like a knight in his armor.”

Damir Doma Spring 2012

Damir Doma - Spring 2012. It's a rare thing to see some colors in his collections. And I'm glad with his decision to put mustard yellow in his collection for spring 2012! Lovely! The pictures above are some of my favourites :)

Drawing: Winter In New York

I was wondering about winter in New York when I made this illustration and designed the outfit. And I think the fur outer helps to pop that simply shirt and the leather shorts. What do you think?
